Notes from the lovers

What did you love most about your venue?

The venue is actually a family friend's property. They've always had a creative vision to build a barn. The thing I love most about the venue (besides the fact that it is absolutely STUNNING) is that we still visit often because our friends live there! It's so nice to be able to go back there and remember the day. It's really special.

Biggest take away?

my biggest piece of advice would be to record your rehearsal! Someone did this for us and we are SO thankful. I've watched the rehearsal over and over again. The rehearsal is the first time that you're walking down the aisle like it's the real thing (obviously - that's what a rehearsal is!) but everyone is so relaxed and having heaps of fun. I'm so glad we captured that precious memory.

On the actual day, our biggest take-away is to always stay together! Stick by your partner's side the entire time. We greeted all of our guests together. We were in the same conversations. We shared dinner together. We danced together. We did this and it made things so much easier.

Tell us about finding your dress!

I actually saw the dress almost 18 months before we even got engaged (I was with my friend - who was engaged - looking at dresses online for her!). When I saw this dress I saved it to my favourites and thought to myself "if I ever get married, this is the dress I want to wear". Fast forward 18 months to when we got engaged and I started looking at dresses... my style had actually changed quite a lot (I was really set on a simple silk dress!). I went dress shopping with my mum & sister, and they saw me try on quite a few dresses but none of them felt like the right dress. After spending an entire day trying on dresses, I felt pretty defeated because I really did not feel beautiful in any dress that I tried on. It was late on a Saturday afternoon and my mum & sister suggested to try one last stop before we go home (which was Luv Bridal). Usually, you have to book appointments weeks in advance... so when I called up I wasn't expecting any availability. But to our surprise, they had a spot left and they could fit me in that afternoon. When we got to Luv Bridal I tried on a few other dresses but still didn't feel like I had found "the dress". I then asked if they had "Raine" in stock. And they did. Only one sample dress left. In the correct colour. In my size. I put the dress on and as soon as I walked out of the dressing room my mum and sister burst into tears. So, needless to say, that was the one! haha.

And why you changed dress for the reception?

The dress change was purely because I wanted to be comfortable and to be able to dance my little heart out!! I HIGHLY recommend a comfortable reception dress (and sneakers!). It was amazing.
