What did you love most about having a Sunshine Beach surf Club wedding?
Sam and I always imagined being married by the beach. We both spend a lot of time by the beach, so a Sunshine Beach surf Club wedding suited us perfectly. The beach views at Sunshine Beach Surf Club are incredible. And we loved that we could have our ceremony on lawn and guests could walk straight upstairs for the reception while we got photos. The venue is so modern, the food and drink was great and more importantly the staff were amazing to deal with.

How did you find the planning process?
I loved the planning process. My full-time job is organising major events, so event planning
is in my DNA. My husband Sam was happy for me to take the planning reins and just bring
him in on big decisions. My friend gave me her wedding planning excel spreadsheet – it was amazing! She had a tab for everything!
I think the most overwhelming process for me was locking in my suppliers. My advice for
couples would be to lock in your venue first and ask them for their recommended supplier
list. It’s a great starting point for researching and made it less overwhelming. Also chat to
your fiancé and decide between you what you really value on your wedding day. That
informed a lot of our decision making.

Your wedding style & colour palette
right from the start I just loved that style and colour palette. I found a styled shoot that I really liked and used that as a starting point. I looked at a lot of blogs (including this one!)
with real weddings and saved everything that I liked. This really helped Rachelle (Simply
Style Co) and Sandi (Willowbud) bring my vision to life. I really wanted a beautiful arbour,
and Sandi nailed it. I am so happy we put the money into that, because it created such a
beautiful backdrop for our ceremony and then she re-purposed the flowers for the bridal
party table. For the reception styling I wanted to keep it super simple and elegant. Rachelle really guided me on what would work well, so I can’t take all the credit!

Must Have's ?
An amazing celebrant, as it really sets the tone for the day. Our celebrant Brooke really took the time to get to know us and helped us personalise our ceremony. We loved that we could involve our family - we had my nanny Del as the ring bearer. She presented our rings on the same prayer book she used at her wedding 63 years ago. My pop passed away one month before the wedding so it was very special to us.
Sam and I both valued good food and drinks and Sunshine Beach Surf Club did not
disappoint. We chose the Grazing station and a bar tab, as it was better value for money.
And all our guests could not stop raving about how good the food and drinks were.
I had a champagne breakfast with my beautiful family and friends on the wedding morning.
It was so special to spend quality time with them all before things got busy.
And practical things like flats for the reception so you can dance all night. My beautiful
friend also put a basket together with heaps of toiletries that came in handy on the wedding morning.
