HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET ?
We met at medical school all the way back in 2011 and started out as good friends. In our final year of uni we found ourselves on the same rotations and seeing a lot more of each other. When we started to spend time together outside of studying, the sparks flew and the friendship transitioned into a relationship. It seemed incredible to realise that after 3 years of being just friends that the perfect partner was right there all along.
ONE THING YOU WOULD RECOMMEND OTHER COUPLES DO FOR THEIR WEDDING ?
We did some dance lessons and learned how to waltz. Spending a few evenings a week, either at the dance class or at home, laughing at/with each other as we tried to avoid each others toes was time well spent. We did not expect to enjoy all of the practicing as much as we did, and the bonus was not having to just stand and sway awkwardly for 3 minutes on the night. Our wedding party greeted the dance with cheers, many of them said it was the highlight of their day! We would definitely recommend hitting up a local dance school 8 weeks out from your wedding.
WHAT DID YOU LOVE most about your venue ?
The Old Maleny Dairy first caught our eye while driving past to check out another wedding venue. When we pulled into the driveway we were blown away by the rolling green hills and the gorgeous barn and we instantly knew it was perfect for us.
Apart from the aesthetics, the Old Maleny Dairy provided all of the beautiful furniture, had a full caterers kitchen and had a selection of areas that we could use to break up the day. We really didn’t want to leave our guests for any period of time: we wanted to enjoy every bit of our wedding. And with a view like this one, why would you want to leave. Getting married at the Old Maleny Dairy meant we could sneak off for 15 minutes while our guests were being seated for dinner to grab some stunning sunset shots and we weren’t rushing all over the Sunshine Coast during our wedding!
Something that the covid dancing restrictions gave you ?
Our band belted out bangers all evening, and we had a huge firepit to sit around to enjoy the first weekend of Spring. We managed to spend some quality time with all of our guests, which we probably would have missed out on if we cut shapes for hours on the dance floor.
