Our planning involved drinking a bottle of wine, and then using a bunch of post-it notes to "experience map" how we wanted each of our guests to feel at every stage of the wedding. We started there and made all our decisions around that. It helped us avoid getting caught up in 'unnecessary' details and for us, our 'must haves' were having all our favourite people in the same spot and for them to have an amazing time!

standout moment ?

Standout moment was having one of our bridesmaids and groomsmen, who are both incredibly talented singers, sing us down the aisle. I've known my bridesmaid since we were in grade 3 and we've pretty much had that planned since school. They both also took over the mic's during our reception and rocked out with our band - so much fun.

What made you choose a first look and bridal lunch ?

we did a first look, then bridal party lunch, then ceremony - so glad we did this! The first look was a chance to calm our nerves pre ceremony and to have a quiet moment together. I know people worry that a first look takes away that "moment" at the aisle, but there were definitely still tears and a special moment once we got to the aisle. It also meant we could get the majority of our photos done before the ceremony, so we could just kick back with our guests once the ceremony was over and not have to disappear for photos.

The bridal party lunch was a fun chance to pop some champagne, have something to eat, hear about each other's morning and spend time with our closest friends before everything else got underway. The day goes so quickly, and these two extra things helped 'slow it down' and squeeze in extra quality time together.

Any other unique ideas you included on the day ?

we had a Meditation teacher who did a guided meditation for us girls while we were getting ready - such a great way to take a breath and ease any nerves so we were able to soak up the day!
